Marcus Emms after a successful ‘interview’ at the July meeting of Shaw and Crompton Parish Council takes over from Andrew Powell as the new town crier for Shaw & Crompton.
Marcus is no stranger to supporting the community, though he won’t have been quite as recognisable.
“I have also been a professional Santa for 20 years,” he explained.
“I’ve helped out at a lot of the local churches and also for the ‘Make A Wish Foundation.’
“Becoming Town Crier is not something I was looking to do but I am more than happy to do it. Anything for a hat!”
Approving Marcus’s appointment Cllr Mike Dodd laughed: “All in favour? Oyez.”
